Service of Lament

On Saturday the 3rd of August State and national leaders of the Uniting Church in Australia led a service of lament in Sydney’s CBD in response to the Federal Government and Opposition’s harsh new asylum seeker policies.

Held at the Pitt Street Uniting Church, the service was led by the Moderator of the NSW/ACT Synod Rev. Dr Brian Brown.

“As Christians called to care for those in need we grieve the inhumanity we are displaying as a nation,” said Rev. Dr  Brown.

Participants in the service of lament offered prayers of intercession for those seeking refuge from conflict and persecution.
